    A public hearing for each of the seven (7) areas being proposed for annexation will be held by and before the City Council the 16th day of July 2019, (Tuesday), at 6:00 P.M. in City Hall Council Chambers, 1212 Avenue M, Huntsville, Texas, for all persons interested in the above proposed annexations. At said time and place all such persons shall have the right to appear and be heard.   1. Art Contest

    June 1, 2019, 10:00 AM - August 12, 2019, 7:00 PM

    The Huntsville Public Library Friends’ Art Contest will be held during Summer 2019. This year’s theme is “Heroes and Villains.” The contest is open for all five through 18 year olds and fifteen winners will be selected. Correctly filled out submission forms are required to be eligible as is artwork that adheres to the submission guidelines. The deadline to submit your artwork is Monday, August 12. Winners will be announced in September.

  2. Sittercise

    July 16, 2019, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

    Get fit while you sit with Sittercise! It’s an exercise program offered from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Huntsville Public Library in conjunction with Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Sittercise is designed to help those who are aging and/or dealing with chronic and other illnesses. It focuses on strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, and overall improved function. Please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Liability waivers are required to participate and are available from the instructor. The class is free and open to adults ages 18 and older.

    The Huntsville Public Library is pleased to host the Huntsville Audubon Society as they lead two exciting all-ages programs in the library over the summer. At 1:30 p.m.on Tuesday, July 16, and is called “Bird Migration: How, Why, and Where.” Registration for these programs is not required. Join us in the Staggs Community room for this free event.

  4. Story Time at Night

    Story Time is a fun early literacy program for kids 5 and under at the Huntsville Public Library. Join us for interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts three times a week in the Staggs Community Room. The early literacy practices featured each week help build the foundation for a lifelong love of reading and learning. Story Time offers caregivers and parents an opportunity to experience early literacy practices in action, discover great books and resources for home use, and socialize with other parents after Story Time. There is something new each week! Sign-up is not required. Story Time is held on Tuesday evenings, Wednesday mornings, and Friday mornings.
